For those who may scoff, or might feel a hint of jealousy, you can assure yourself that this man has earned it. He has been in this business since 1996. He is a perfectionist. Passionate about what he does. And most of all............he is one of the very best and brightest in the female wrestling business.
I've been trying to nail down an interview with this busy invidivual for quite some time. Finally, I got the interview I wanted, and I hope everyone enjoys.
CATFIGHT REPORT INTERVIEW QUESTIONS FOR THE SLEEPERKID

1. You have been in this business now for quite a while it seems. I remember when I first started surfing the internet for female wrestling and catfights I came across your material almost immediately. A few questions in one. How long have you been in this business? How did you make the transition from fan to producer? How and where did the name "Sleeperkid" come about?
THE SLEEPERKID: Hell of a question! I’ve been doing this since 1998, when I started a simple fan site as a way to express my affection for female pro wrestling (and to practice html coding). Around 2001 a female friend of mine brought up the idea to actually shoot original material, one that I took to instantly. After doing some training at a pro school and a few weeks with a stunt coordinator, I came back to Atlanta…ready to train some wrestlers and shoot some initial material. As for the “Sleeperkid” moniker, I chose it based on the facts that a) I was an actual kid when I started the site, and b) the sleeper hold was a bit of a taboo move back then, and I decided to capitalize that within the female wrestling genre.
2. As a fan yourself.........what kind of action and scenarios do you like the best? Do you prefer the mixed stuff? The female vs female wrestling? Certain holds, scenarios, etc? What part of the business do you most like to be a part of as a fan and a producer?
THE SLEEPERKID: I’d sound biased if I said I liked the mixed stuff, but in all honesty I’ve always been a fan of back and forth battles between two equally skilled opponents. That being said, the kid in me loves the old school squash matches (remember King Kong Bundy???). All in all, I’m a fan of drama…which would explain why we’ve expanded into…well…dramatic content (i.e. spy vs spy/superheroine material). And as much as the fans call bullshit on this one, I actually prefer to be BEHIND the camera for the most part...if only because I’m an OCD-stricken perfectionist when it comes to angles, lighting, etc.

3. Mixed Wrestling vs Female Wrestling. Which, in your experience, do you think has a higher fan base? Which, in your experience, have more fans invested their money into and why in your opinion?
THE SLEEPERKID: Female wrestling will always come out on top. Second on the list is mixed wrestling where the female dominates…and third is the kind we produce: mixed matches where females lose to a male (GASP!!!!). While we don’t really dabble in that second one, we’ve found that there’s a small and powerful group that seems to love watching me win intergender battles. Not sure why…but we’re sure as Hell not turning away video sales.
4. The nuances of this business. Pirated Youtube videos, Rapidshare, hacking. How much has this impacted your business and what steps or ideas do you have to prevent this from continuing to happen?
THE SLEEPERKID: Aside from a few dozen YouTube videos we’ve had to take down, we’re doing really well in this department. The reason is as simple as it is obvious: We don’t produce anything that features nudity, lingerie, sexual conduct, etc, so most content pirates leave us alone. There’s more attention in posting red-blooded American (well, mostly German) porn, after all.
5. The Sleeperkid brand. You are not into the nudity. You don't do real wrestling matches. Everything is scripted on your side. What led you to go this way and what is the philosophy behind your business model? For example, many producers have told me that their best sales come from nude matches, by a large
margin. I'm certain that you have a intelligent and practical counter reply to this.
THE SLEEPERKID: We found a niche that needed filling (insert “that’s what she said” joke here) and we filled it. There were tons of guys in the late 90’s/early 2000’s who were sick of seeing porn stars trying to pass themselves off as pro wrestlers, so we decided to put ACTUAL wrestling back into the action. These were guys who grew up on British Pro, LPWA, etc., and they saw no reason to “titillate” what was, to them, an already sexy and dynamic form of sports entertainment…so we decided to walk the line, so to speak. …and it kinda paid off.

6. The industry as a whole. Where do you think it's going? Do you think companies like SKW Productions, DT Productions, WWE, and the like will lead the way with scripted female wrestling action? Or do you think real competitive (no script) wrestling by companies such as We Bring It, DWW, and Academy Wrestling will
move further up the charts? Do you foresee an explosion of interest in this stuff or do you predict a decline? (or even steadiness?)
THE SLEEPERKID: I have no idea where it’s all gonna go, but I DO know that the separation between fans of real and scripted wrestling is at least a hundred miles wide. At this point you might as well ask me if I think rock’s gonna beat rap in the near future, and for both queries I propose a single reply: I don’t know…but as long as I’m still making a living doing the thing I love most, I really don’t give a damn. I respect the girls that wrestle competitively…especially when they come down to Atlanta and join the SKW family.
7. The Sleeperkid has just become Superman. You can now have any ladies that you want, anywhere on the planet, come wrestle for you at SKW Productions. If you could pick 5 matches, between any ladies that you choose, that would make you salivate and send your sales through the roof.........what would be 5 matches that you would choose along with your chosen scenario for each one?
THE SLEEPERKID: Not sure I’d salivate over much these days (the difference between a fan and a producer is as vast as it is inexplicable), but I’d venture to say the following match-ups would sell decently)
1. Aja Kong vs Sapphire: Cage match
2. Francesca Le vs Angelina (battle of the Latina Attitudes)
3. Mickey James vs Sumiko (non-stop KOs match)
4. Trish Stratus vs Sapphire (one-sided squash)
5. Salma Hayek vs Monica Belluci (A “Who Gives a F*ck…SK Just Made 100 Million Off this Bikini Battle” Battle)

8. As a producer you are always bouncing time responding to fan requests, corresponding with talent, scheduling, video shooting, video editing, video promotion, website and social network updates, and on and on and on and on. Amidst all of this, like all producers, I'm certain you seek to streamline and improve. For instance, I noticed on your website that you are doing away with DVD's and having it where all the material can be purchased and downloaded over the web. Good move in my view.
THE SLEEPERKID: What are some more things the Sleeperkid is going to be doing in the near future to streamline your brand and continually improve the experience for your buying customers?
We’re currently re-capturing and re-rendering our older SKWPPV.COM titles in their initial resolution in order to provide new fans with a high-res look at our origins. We’re also improving our editing tactics and pricing system…allowing for different pricing depending on the amount of work that would realistically go into a production. That, and we’ve improved our lighting and camera system for any and all future customs (special thanks to my lovely girlfriend on that last one).
9. Tell fans some of your favorite, or even not so favorite moments, during your time in this business. I'm certain fans would be very interested in some of the stories they don't know about that you can actually tell.
THE SLEEPERKID: Aside from an audition from a model whose diva-esque attitude made her initial visit her last, I don’t really have any extremely negative moments to recall. As for my favorites…I’d have to say watching Sapphire wrestle Fantasy in a ring at the last San Diego WWC (they totallywon over the more grappling-infatuated crowd) was a high point…but it’s really hard to point to a specific “best” moment. Every time we shoot something new and amazing takes place…and it’s never anything we can predict.
10. I would like to thank you for the interview and my last question is a simple one. Is there anything I missed? Anything you want to communicate to the fans regarding this business or your experiences you would like to share?
THE SLEEPERKID: We’ll keep shooting ‘em as long as you keep watching ‘em.

Lessons from a Warrior - Part 1

They would take challenges from any opponents just to prove themselves, just to learn. One of the greatest of these warriors, was a man who is now more legend than man, Miyamoto Mushashi.
Miyamoto Mushashi began sword fighting at 13 and won. And continued to win famous battles for years, before disappearing into the mountains to meditate and teach. He wrote "The Book of the Five Rings" and also, the week before he died, he wrote "The Way of Walking Alone" also known as "The Way of Self-reliance."
These are the precepts that this Martial Arts master believed to be important to the warrior and the warrior's spirit.
THE WAY OF WALKING ALONE
-Do not turn your back on the various WAYS of this world.
-Do not scheme for personal pleasure.
-Do not intend to rely on anything.
-Consider yourself lightly; consider the world deeply.
-Do not ever think in acquisitive terms.
-Do not regret things about your own personal life.
-Do not envy another's good or evil.
-Do not lament parting on any road whatsoever.
-Do not complain or feel bitterly about yourself or others.
-Have no heart for approaching the path of love.
-Do not have preferences.

-While it's different with military equipment, do no be fond of material things.

-Respect the gods and Buddhas, but do not depend on them.
-Though you give up your life, do not give up your honor.
-Never depart from the Way of Martial Arts.

When I was about 11 years old. I remember when "KISS Meets the Phantom" first aired on TV, it was just so amazing to me. It was the hot topic among my 5th grade classmates the next day. The same magic that captivated me back then, has kept me enchanted for the past 20 years!

Make-up ON! It is an inherent part of their mystique and identity.

What's it like to be a female in the male fandom of KISS?
It's the best. There is nothing more heartwarming than extolling the virtues of KISS with other fans. Most guys are taken aback by my knowledge and adoration of this band. I feel an instant bond with fellow KISS aficionados.
Do you have a short KISS story you'd like share?
KISS has just made such an impact upon my life in countless ways. I'm lucky enough to have met Gene & Paul many times, since I live in Los Angeles, and they have always been charming. There is one particular incident that happened in 1993, while I was attending a party at Trent Reznor's (Nine Inch Nails) home. Let me say that I have an immense amount of respect for his talent and contributions to the music industry. A mutual friend had mentioned that he was also a huge KISS fan. So, when he heard that I loved KISS, he excitedly led me into his living room/recording studio, and showed me his picture of Gene, which he had on his mixing board, next to a picture of Jesus Christ. We then spoke emphatically about our love of KISS, and how cool they are. It was remarkable that one of the most significant artists of the 90's is completely in awe of the greatest band in the world! It is just further proof of KISS's incredible influence and intrigue!
The first lady of KISS is still going strong and now she wrestles other females for fun!

Dave Redmon, formerly of the hit TV show "Ice Road Truckers", recently announced in an interview that the producers were trying to pit new girl Maya Sieber against incumbent Lisa Kelly.
Here is what Dave had to say on the issue:
And, Dave alleges, producers of Ice Road Truckers and IRT: Deadliest Roads were not above pitting one person against another, creating rumors among the cast to cause tension and arguments, or using a cast mate to keep a rising star in line. For example, he says, the producers did not want Maya and Lisa to meet before filming began. Lisa, he claims, had not signed a contract upon arriving in Alaska, and producers were using Maya as a threat. “They were flaunting Maya, kind of like a carrot, saying, ‘This is your replacement, this is your replacement,” he describes in a sing-song voice. “They wanted a catfight between the two,” he said of the two women’s role on the show, “but Lisa wanted no part of it. She went on the I’m-gonna-be-buddies-with-her routine, and they hated it.”
